USDA Announces Batching Dates for Conservation Easement Programs

May 14, 2013 - USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service announced today the availability of Sage Grouse Initiative Grasslands Reserve Program (SGI GRP) and Sage Grouse Initiative Wetlands Reserve Program (SGI WRP) funding. Eligible landowners and partners are encouraged to submit SGI GRP and SGI WRP proposals by May 31, 2013. All applications received by this batching date will be evaluated for eligibility and ranked.

Second Batch of Applications for FRPP Easement Program Sought

Utah private landowners and operators and cooperating entities are encouraged to submit 2013 applications by March 15, 2013 to USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for participation in the Farm and Ranchland Protection Program (FRPP). Easement programs are offered through a continuous signup but NRCS periodically makes funding selections as program dollars allow. March 15, 2013 will be the deadline for the second batching period for FRPP applications for FY2013.

Logan Northern Canal Reconstruction Project

NRCS has published the Record of Decision (ROD) for the reconstruction of the Logan Northern Canal in Cache County, Utah. The purpose of this project is to restore the safe delivery of water that was conveyed by the LN Canal before the 2009 landslide and Address the remaining hazards associated with the landslide zone between about 700 East and 1100 East.
